2024 National Conference - Scholarship Winner Experience

ALA National Conference held at the Gaylord Hotel in Aurora, Colorado was an amazing experience.  We started with the Newcomers Connections on Sunday, and we got to talk with other Administrators from all over the country. It’s interesting how much we had in common!  No matter where you are located, we all have the same basic issues with staffing and dealing with attorneys and clients.  I really enjoyed the “Tales from the Trenches” and all the stories regarding law firm’s issues that Administrators handle; from removing partners to moonlighting attorneys.

Nancy Morris, who presented the Session “Rest- Not Sleep – Is What You Actually Need to Avoid Burnout” was one of my favorite lecturers. I am trying to implement the techniques discussed on dealing with burnout in my job since my role as administrator carries many responsibilities that a larger firm with more support staff would have the ability to delegate.

I enjoyed the camaraderie with the delegates from our New Orleans Chapter, the meals we shared, attending the 90’s party, and of course Casino night!  I do want to thank my travel companions, Nick, Scott and Stephen for their company along the way.
