Topic: Sitting is the New Smoking / Wearables at Work
Wendy King, HUB International, will discuss the negative consequences from sitting too long at work, home and other locations and strategies that employers can do to address this identified health issue. Wearables at Work pertain to FitBits, iWatches and the like and how they are going to be more mainstream than smartphones in the near future. Wendy will discuss strategies that employers can do to incorporate this health benefit into the workplace.
Speaker/Presenter: Wendy King, HUB International
As Director of Health & Performance at HUB International, Wendy sets the pace for growing and developing the practice throughout the Gulf South region. She is responsible for strategic client consultation, health management provider partnerships, industry leading program design and compliance, as well as internal and external communication. Her overarching goal is to guide clients to the strategies and solutions that will achieve high engagement rates, healthy employees, and long term risk reduction in their populations. Ms. King has over 20 year's diverse, professional experience in corporate wellness strategy, marketing, sales and communications. Her background includes owning her own marketing & consulting firm, running the corporate marketing and wellness divisions of a national health & benefits administrator, and running the business development divisions of both hospitals and healthcare consultants. Management, and written articles and provided interviews to numerous US insurance, corporate wellness, benefits, and human resources publications. Ms. King is considered a leader in the field of corporate wellness strategy, as it relates to employee benefits and enterprise risk management. Ms. King holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of New Orleans, along with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana State University. She is also a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS).
