Session 1: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – Does Remote Work Really Work? Best Practices and Legal Compliance
Summary: Remote and hybrid work seem to be here to stay: in the years following Covid 19 restrictions, 92% of people surveyed expected to work remotely at least 1 day per week. Employees are experiencing a financial upside to working from home—they save on average 40 minutes daily in commuting time and up to $6,000 per year in expenses. The pandemic has opened the door to more alternative business models, including virtual law firms. But does remote work replicate the quality and quantity of work in the physical office? How do law firms ensure compliance with the law in terms of pay and benefits? This seminar will provide legal administrators with best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure remote and hybrid employees remain productive and engaged and to ensure the firm remains compliant with the law.

Session 2 – 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – What does technology look like for law firms as 2023 approaches?
Summary: With the legal industry being a laggard when in it comes to technology, we saw Covid force law firms to speed up many of their technology decisions. As 2023 approaches, we study what law firms actually embraced during that time and determine how it impacted their methodology when it comes to technology. With each law firm having its own unique environment, with different levels of sophistication when it comes to technology, there is no one solution that meets the needs of each firm. Michael Hammond will review what went right or wrong for many firms during that time and he’ll give us tips to better prepare for future pandemics or natural disasters. This session will provide a starting point, which will be different for each law firm, for building a successful technology plan.
